Inspired by nature, rooted in sustainability
Nicole Hemmerly of MossHound Designs specializes in handcrafting one-of-a-kind statement fiber art composed of locally sourced, small-batch, and organic materials.
In our daily practice, we seek to respect our world and all its creatures; we promise to give back more than we take; and we vow to sow new meaning in fibers woven intentionally for you, and for all those who connect in the intimacy of your art.
what I do
commissioned art for hospitality interiors
We will work together to establish the concept, message, and style of the piece. We will then choose the appropriate size, colors, fibers, weaving techniques, and additive materials to bring your vision to life.
Though I am located in Florida, I am willing to travel to select locations for installation art. For packageable works, we ship worldwide.
rope art
Wall hanging compositions can be crafted through macrame or macraweave techniques.
The fibers are knotted using OEKO-TEX organic cotton rope and woven to mirror the flow and textures seen in the landscapes I emulate.
woven wall hangings
Handwoven on a loom, these works feature organic compositions, rhythmic patterns, and both vibrant and neutral colors found within nature.
Common fibers include banana yarn, cotton fiber, handspun jute,
thick & thin yarn, raffia, wool roving, nettle, and wool yarn from our farm.
our sustainable practices
We start with using fibers directly off of our sheep farm in northern Pennsylvania, then curate fibers from local hand spinners, dyers + other types of textile farm animals such as sheep, goats & alpacas. Other fibers used in our wall hangings are purchased from a US based company that takes leftover waste from the garment industry and turns it into beautifully recycled, top quality yarn and rope. Your product is then shipped in biodegradable mailers, recycled boxes and plastic free tape.

Meet Nicole
As we grow, some things within us always seem to stay the same. For Nicole, it’s the deep reverence and respect for nature first instilled in her by her father, a kindhearted hunter and fisherman with a fierce love of Philly sports.
Inside, Nicole is still the little girl whose love of nature was discovered through playing with quails, eating wild blackberries found along the trails, and spotting deer. Now, instead of running wild through the family farm in northern Pennsylvania, she’s built her roots in the Florida Panhandle and is often trailed by her four ducks and pack of elderly rescue dogs as she meanders between her garden, her studio, and her kitchen…
